PRN Radiologic Technologist

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Summary: The radiologic technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images on patients of all ages.  They work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Perform diagnostic imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders.
  2. Position patients properly to obtain the best possible images while ensuring the patient’s comfort and safety.
  3. Operate and maintain imaging equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety standards are met.
  4. Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensuring that actions are taken when tests deviate from established protocol.
  5. Review and evaluate images for quality and clarity, ensuring they meet diagnostic criteria.
  6. Collaborate with healthcare providers to interpret imaging results and assist in patient care.
  7. Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging studies, patient history, and procedural details.
  8. Follow radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  9. Provide patient education and support, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns or questions.
  10. Participate in quality assurance activities and continuing education to stay current with advancements in imaging technology and best practices.
  11. Adhere to ethical and professional standards, including patient confidentiality and compliance with regulations and policies.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications:
 
  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree in radiologic technology from an accredited program.
  2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and proof of Iowa permit to practice prior to performing ionizing radiation.
  3. Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment and imaging software.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  5. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently while following established protocols and procedures.
  6. Physical stamina and dexterity to position patients and operate imaging equipment for extended periods.
  7. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. independently.
  8. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to diagnostic imaging procedures.
  9. Commitment to patient care, safety, and professionalism.
  10. BLS for the healthcare provider certified or obtained withing 3 months of hire.
